In my previous article, I already introduced the New Zeland brand Antipodes Skincare. Today, I would like to review the Antipodes Manuka Honey Brightening Eye Cream. Antipodes Skincare proposes several eye care creams : kiwi seed oil eye cream and manuka honey brightening eye cream.
The promise of the Antipodes Skincare brand for manuka honey cream
It is a concentrated treatment created to illuminate the zone around eyes and fight against the first signs of aging. Manuka honey from New Zealand has world-renowned moisturising and anti-blemish prowess to help hydrate and freshen under-eye tissue. This luxury formulation introduces Persian silk flower blended with revolutionary antioxidant Vinanza grape seed and kiwi skin to brighten delicate skin.
This means that this cream should be used to moisturize the skin around the eye area and reduce dark circles.
The active ingredients of the manuka honey eye cream
The cream contains the following active ingredients: Manuka honey, Vinanza Grape & Kiwi, Persian silk flower, avocado, mamaku, carrot and cupuacu. Lets talk about the benefits of manuka honey for our skin.
Manuka honey comes from nectar, produced by bees from the Manuka tree’s flowers. This cosmetic ingredient is very expensive because this kind of honey is very rare. Indeed, the flowers from which it is produced have a period of flowering for only 6 weeks, which leaves little time for the bees to forage for them.
Manuka honey contains compounds that are very beneficial for the skin and for health in general. Honey contains hydrogen peroxide and methylglyoxal, a component with known therapeutic properties, which is primarily responsible for the antibiotic quality of honey.
Recent research has shown that Manuka honey has a wide spectrum of antibacterial properties, making it effective in controlling more than 80 species of pathogens (bacteria, viruses and other organisms that can cause infection).
Thus, manuka honey is used for the following actions:
Antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, used for skin prone to acne and other skin conditions (eczema, rosacea…)
Healing for repairing and regenerating the skin.
Moisturizing effect
Anti-oxidant action to slow down the effects of time on the skin.
INCI list of the cream
As you can see, there are many ingredients in green, which are real active ingredients and beneficial for the skin. Some possible allergens are still present, they are in red. They are mainly aromatic components in order to add a bit of perfume to the cream. On the other hand, they are of natural origin and are present at the very bottom of the INCI list, and therefore at a very low dosage.
What I think about manuka honey eye cream from Antipodes Skincare ?
I use this cream in the morning and evening. Howevery, keep in mind, while applying the cream in the evening that it is better to apply it 1 hour before sleep for its total penetration, otherwise you may wake up with puffy eyes (that was my experience).
I really liked its creamy but very light texture. The perfum is very pleasant and natural. Concerning the packaging, several things to note: it has a really generous format for an eye cream – the jar lasts for 7 to 8 months. I love the design of the Antipodes packaging, glass jars are pretty and ecological, too! On the other hand, a jar for the cream is a bit inconvenient – I don’t like to put my fingers in the jar of cream to apply it to the face. The cream stays under the nails and I am not sure about the hygiene level 🙂 …
About the cream’s efficacity : I noticed a really positive effect on my eye zone. It is perfectly hydrated and smoothed, it gives a fresher and more rested look. I had been looking for this moisturizing effect in vain for months when used less natural creams. Now I have hydrated eye skin area with the Antipodes Skincare cream with manuka honey.
